How the Countdown Numbers Are Worked Out
- Retirement date: your date of birth plus your chosen retirement age.
- Career progress: the share of time that has passed between the age you started working and your retirement age. Someone who started at 22, plans to retire at 67, and is now 44.5 is exactly halfway (22.5 of 45 working years).
- Working days left: every Monday to Friday between today and your retirement date.
- Live countdown: the exact time remaining, updated every second from your device's clock.
Why Your Real Working Days Will Be Fewer
The working-day count does not remove public holidays, annual leave, sick days, or part-time schedules, because these vary so much from person to person. As a rough guide, a full-time employee with around 25 days of combined leave and holidays each year works roughly 235 to 240 days a year rather than the 260 or so weekdays on the calendar.

How are working days remaining calculated?
This counts every Monday through Friday between today and your retirement date. It does not subtract public holidays, vacation days, or sick leave, so your actual working days will be somewhat fewer.
